Mental Health Training

Supporting wellbeing in your workplace with accredited mental health training

Our Mental Health Training service in the UK

Mental health is now recognised as a core part of workplace health and safety. Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, employers have a duty of care to protect the mental as well as the physical wellbeing of their employees. At Office Test, we offer a range of QNUK-accredited Mental Health Training courses designed to help your organisation build awareness, reduce stigma and create a supportive working environment.

From a half-day introduction to awareness, through to a two-day qualification for designated Mental Health First Aiders, our courses are tailored to suit the needs of your organisation — whether you want to give your whole team a foundational understanding or train specific individuals to provide structured support to colleagues.

The course: what to expect from our Mental Health Training

Our mental health training is designed to be engaging, practical and sensitive, ensuring your employees feel confident in recognising and responding to mental health concerns in the workplace. We offer three accredited levels:

  • QNUK LEVEL 1 AWARD IN MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS (RQF) — ½ DAY: An introductory course that raises awareness of mental health, helps break down stigma, and gives staff a foundational understanding of common mental health conditions. Ideal for all employees.
  • QNUK LEVEL 2 AWARD IN MENTAL HEALTH AT WORK (RQF) — 1 DAY: A more detailed course exploring how mental health affects the workplace, how to recognise signs and triggers, and how to support colleagues and promote a positive mental health culture. Well suited to managers and supervisors.
  • QNUK LEVEL 3 AWARD IN MENTAL HEALTH FOR FIRST AIDERS (RQF) — 2 DAYS: A comprehensive qualification that trains designated Mental Health First Aiders to recognise a wide range of conditions, provide initial support, and guide colleagues towards appropriate professional help. The workplace equivalent of a qualified first aider for mental health.

All courses can be delivered at your site or at our dedicated training centre in London, offering flexibility and convenience. Led by experienced, DBS-checked trainers, our courses ensure employees leave with the knowledge and confidence to support mental wellbeing in the workplace.

MORE ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING

What is Mental Health Training?

Mental Health Training equips your staff with the knowledge and skills to recognise the signs of poor mental health, respond appropriately and support colleagues who may be struggling. Depending on the level, training can range from basic awareness for all employees through to a structured qualification for designated Mental Health First Aiders who provide initial support and signpost colleagues to professional help.

Why is Mental Health Training important for the workplace?

Mental ill health is one of the leading causes of sickness absence in the UK, and employers have a legal duty of care to protect the mental wellbeing of their staff under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Investing in mental health training helps reduce absence, improve productivity and morale, lower stigma, and create an open, supportive culture. It also demonstrates that your organisation takes employee wellbeing seriously.

Who needs Mental Health Training?

All organisations can benefit from mental health training, though the appropriate level depends on the role:

  • All employees benefit from the Level 1 Awareness course to build foundational understanding and reduce stigma.
  • Managers and supervisors are well suited to the Level 2 Mental Health at Work course, as they are often the first to notice changes in their teams.
  • Designated wellbeing champions or Mental Health First Aiders should complete the Level 3 qualification to provide structured support across the organisation.

How often should Mental Health Training be done?

To keep skills current and confidence high, we recommend refresher training every three years, in line with best practice for first aid qualifications. Annual updates or briefings are also good practice to keep employees aware of the latest guidance and to reinforce a positive mental health culture.
